13 Ways to Get Involved in the Tempe Area


As a local company in Tempe, Arizona, we are passionate about being a part of the community and helping out as much as possible. We know many of you (our clients) are citizens of the Tempe area as well, so we’re sharing a list of ideas for how you can get involved, too. Many of these activities can be fun and rewarding, and we hope there’s something you’ll enjoy!

If you like staying active, you can use this website to find local 5k runs, 10k runs, marathons, etc. Typically, the proceeds go to a charity organization. You’ll have fun and help make a change while improving your cardiovascular health!

Ever see a sign saying “adopt a street” as you’re driving around town? This means that an individual, business, or organization is regularly making sure that that area is free of litter, graffiti, and property damage. You or your organization could do this, too!

The Art Resource Center collects art supplies to donate to nonprofit organizations. They accept every kind of material imaginable, such as paint, paper, fabric, wire, yarn, cardstock, cardboard, beads, markers, plastic containers, etc.

When are you ever going to wear your prom dress again? Located in Chandler, Arizona, this nonprofit organization accepts prom dresses, shoes, and accessories to give to students who can’t afford one.They also take volunteers to assist with selecting dresses, organizing apparel, and overseeing their annual event.

Come help package meals for starving children. You can participate individually or with a group. It’s a fun, positive environment that encourages some healthy competition as you try to pack as much food as quickly as possible. They also have multiple locations.

Hackett House is the headquarters for Tempe’s Sister Cities organization. They also host events that celebrate education, community, the arts, and culture, and they always welcome people to come help out.

Lost Our Home is dedicated to helping both people and pets in times of crisis. During these times, pet owners may be unable to provide for their animals, leading to insufficient care or abandonment. This organization accepts volunteers as well as donations. They also have an Amazon wishlist on their website, so you can see which specific items they need.

Art museums have plenty of fun volunteer opportunities during events such as special exhibitions, school group visits, film showings, and art classes.

Volunteer at the local library! Volunteers may be needed to sort and stock books or to help out at special events.

Make sure to recycle your waste whenever possible to make both Tempe and the planet a better place to live. If recycling is not collected in your neighborhood—like at some apartment complexes, for example—you can drop off your recyclable items at any of these sites.

Apply to volunteer at the hospital, where you can assist in variety of areas, such as the information desk, surgery waiting room, or other patient care areas. Day, afternoon, and evening shifts are available.
